Yesterday we checked out of our hostel in Santiago, and this morning got off an overnight bus to Puerto Montt.
The past few days we have spent in Santiago have been overwhelming but enjoyable, and we got to walk around the city. We saw La Moneda, the seat of the President of the Republic of Chile. It was guarded by armed guards, so that was pretty interesting. Also, we found a cool local market with a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables we cooked up in our hostel's kitchen.
We will start backpacking once we get to Puerto Montt, and so will have very limited (if any) wifi for a while. Right now we are planning on spending a few days in Puerto Montt, and then heading even further south to Punta Arenas. Once we get to Punta Arenas we will jog back up to Torres del Paine, and trek there for about a week.
